Senior Hydrologist - Manchester\n
Location: ManchesterSalary: £50,000 - £55,000
\nJob Type: Permanent, Full-Time
\nA growing water and environmental consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Hydrologist to join its Manchester team. The role will involve delivering a varied portfolio of hydrology and water-sector projects, with particular exposure to water quality, storm overflows, catchment investigations and environmental assessment.
The Role\n- \n
- Lead the delivery of hydrology projects from inception through to completion. \n
- Undertake hydrological assessments, catchment analysis and flood hydrology studies. \n
- Deliver and support Storm Overflow Assessment Framework (SOAF) studies and storm overflow investigations. \n
- Analyse rainfall, river flow, water quality and wider environmental datasets. \n
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, assessments and supporting documentation. \n
- Provide technical input into water quality, wastewater and catchment management projects. \n
- Undertake flood frequency analysis, rainfall-runoff assessments and climate change assessments. \n
- Support projects for water companies, regulators, developers and public-sector clients. \n
- Undertake site visits and field investigations where required. \n
- Liaise directly with clients, regulators and other project stakeholders. \n
- Manage project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables. \n
- Review technical work and provide mentoring and support to junior team members. \n
- Contribute to bids, fee proposals and business development activities. \n
- Work collaboratively with hydraulic modellers, water quality specialists, engineers and environmental consultants. \n
The successful candidate will ideally have:
\n- \n
- A degree in Hydrology, Geography, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or a related discipline. \n
- Significant experience within hydrology, water resources or water/environmental consultancy. \n
- Experience delivering or supporting SOAF studies, storm overflow investigations or wastewater-related projects. \n
- Strong understanding of UK hydrology and the water environment. \n
- Experience analysing hydrological, water quality and environmental datasets. \n
- Knowledge of WINEP, AMP programmes and UK water-sector regulatory requirements would be advantageous. \n
- Experience with hydrological, hydraulic or water-quality modelling software. \n
- Strong technical report writing and numerical analysis skills. \n
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients. \n
- Experience managing projects and mentoring junior colleagues. \n
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake site work. \n
Chartered status or working towards CIWEM, ICE or a similar professional qualification would be advantageous.
