Job Description
Critical Facilities Technician "Protect the backbone of the digital world." Critical Facilities Technicians ensure the mechanical and electrical systems powering the data centre run flawlessly. You'll manage high‑availability infrastructure including UPS, generators, switch-gear, cooling systems, and fire suppression. This role is ideal for candidates with strong M&E backgrounds who want to work in a precision‑driven, mission‑critical environment. Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems Monitor BMS systems and respond to alarms Support load testing, switching operations, and emergency procedures Maintain cooling systems including CRAC/CRAH units and chillers Ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards Work closely with engineering teams during upgrades and expansions Qualifications Required Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3+, City & Guilds, 18th Edition) Strong understanding of UPS, generators, switch gear, and cooling systems Experience in critical environments (data centres, hospitals, industrial plants) Ability to read technical drawings and follow SOPs/EOPs Desirable: HV switching experience, F‑Gas certification Salary: £45,000-£65,000 Shift allowance for 24/7 operations Annual bonus Private medical insurance Life assurance Paid training for HV, UPS, and specialist certifications Progression into Senior Technician, Supervisor, or Engineering Manager roles
