Our client a special school in South Cumbria and requires a Teaching Assistant for a September start. This role is crucial in supporting young adults aged 7–16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, and complex learning difficulties. The position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a therapeutic learning environment with extremely small class sizes.
\nDay-to-day of the role:

- Specialist ASD Support: Support students with Asperger's Syndrome and complex autism through structured interventions tailored to individual education and behaviour plans. \n
- Small Class Engagement: Work within highly focused, small groups (frequently no more than 3 students per class) or on a 1-to-1 basis to build deep trust and communication. \n
- Emotional Regulation: Utilize de-escalation strategies, positive behaviour management, and emotional support to ensure a stable, safe learning environment. \n
- Therapeutic Outdoor Learning: Assist teachers in delivering outdoor curriculum leveraging its location in the Lake District. \n
- Academic Assistance: Help deliver modified core curricula (including literacy and numeracy), set up learning environments, and track pupil progress. \n
Required Skills & Qualifications:

- A recognized Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent background in education/care) is typically required. \n
- Exceptional patience, emotional resilience, a proactive mindset, and a calm demeanour during challenging behaviour. \n
- Candidates must pass extensive background checks, including an enhanced DBS clearance, due to the school’s strict safeguarding standards. \n
