Lead Mechanical EngineerEmployment Type: PermanentLocation: Greater Manchester / MerseysideSalary: £60,000 £100,000Are you a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with senior-level experience designing pressure vessels, valves or other pressure equipment?Do you have strong experience with mechanical calculations, stress analysis and FEA?Are you looking for a senior position where you can take ownership of projects, work directly with clients and help shape the future of an established engineering business?What's in it for you?£60,000 £100,000 salary, depending on experienceLead role within an established engineering consultancyDirect client exposure and opportunities to develop new businessOpportunity to influence engineering processes and ways of workingScope to help shape the future growth of the businessWhat will you be doing?Lead the engineering design of pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, valves and associated equipmentPrepare and check engineering calculations using Design by Rule and Design by Analysis methodologiesCarry out stress analysis, hand calculations and FEA, ideally using ANSYSCheck and sign off fabrication drawings produced by designers and draughtsmenTake ownership of projects from initial client contact through to delivery of the engineering work packageLiaise directly with clients throughout projects and build strong working relationshipsSupport the development of new business and identify opportunities with existing and new clientsLead, support and develop engineers within the teamMaintain, update and develop in-house Excel-based calculation tools and engineering programmesWhere will you be doing it?You'll be joining an established engineering consultancy specialising in the design and analysis of pressure equipment and associated mechanical systems. Following a recent change in ownership, the business is growing and looking for an experienced engineer to take a leading role in the technical and commercial development of the team.What will you need?Degree qualified in Mechanical EngineeringChartered Engineer status5+ years' relevant mechanical design experienceSenior-level experience designing pressure vessels, valves or other pressure equipmentStrong experience with mechanical engineering calculations and stress analysisExperience with FEA / Design by Analysis; ANSYS would be particularly beneficialGood understanding of relevant design codes and standardsComfortable taking ownership of projects and dealing directly with clientsStrong communication and leadership skillsIt would be beneficial if you have:Knowledge of pressure vessel design codes and international standards/directivesExperience with PD5500 and/or ASME VIII Division 1Experience with EN 14105 and API 650Experience designing steelworkExperience using PV Elite or similar vessel design softwareExperience developing or working with Excel-based engineering calculation toolsImportant Information: We endeavour to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
