Manufacturing Engineer – Continuous Improvement

Location: Sheffield S13

Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 per annum

Anna Maher Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established Sheffield-based manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Engineer – Continuous Improvement.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with experience in precision engineering, CNC machining, manufacturing processes or production improvement who is looking to join a business where they can make a real impact.

\n

Working closely with the Operations Manager and production team, you will play a key role in improving manufacturing processes, supporting new product introduction and delivering continuous improvement projects across the business.

\n

The Role

\n

As Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide technical support to the production environment while identifying and implementing improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste and improve manufacturing performance.

\n

You will work across a varied manufacturing environment, supporting processes including CNC machining, grinding, laser profiling, EDM, heat treatment and specialist production operations.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and the introduction of new manufacturing processes.
  • \n
  • Improve existing production methods to increase efficiency, quality and repeatability.
  • \n
  • Provide hands-on technical support to operators and production teams.
  • \n
  • Investigate manufacturing issues and implement practical engineering solutions.
  • \n
  • Design and introduce tooling, fixtures, jigs and work-holding solutions.
  • \n
  • Use CAD/CAM software to support manufacturing improvements.
  • \n
  • Analyse production data, scrap levels and process performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • \n
  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • \n
  • Implement standard operating procedures and visual management systems.
  • \n
  • Improve production flow, reduce waste and support ongoing factory improvements.
  • \n

About You

\n

The successful candidate will ideally have:

\n
    \n
  • Experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, Production Engineer or Continuous Improvement Engineer.
  • \n
  • A strong background within manufacturing, machining, engineering or precision manufacturing.
  • \n
  • Practical knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
  • \n
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software and engineering design.
  • \n
  • Experience delivering Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement projects.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of improvement techniques such as 5S, SMED, Poka-Yoke or Value Stream Mapping.
  • \n
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production teams.
  • \n

Desirable Experience

\n

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

\n
    \n
  • Precision grinding.
  • \n
  • Laser profiling and nesting.
  • \n
  • EDM machining.
  • \n
  • Tool steels, stainless steels or specialist materials.
  • \n
  • New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • \n
  • Manufacturing process optimisation.
  • \n
