ARB GROUNDSPERSON / GROUNDSMAN
Job Description
ARB GROUNDSPERSON / GROUNDSMAN
\nJoin the BROWNS Team
\n📍 Great Brickhill, Milton Keynes
\n💷 £25,000 - £36,000 per year (depending on experience & qualifications)
\n🕒 Full Time | Monday-Friday | Permanent
\nBROWNS is looking for a Groundsperson / Groundsman to join our growing tree surgery team. Ideally, we're looking for someone with previous arboricultural experience and relevant industry qualifications who understands how important a good ground operation is to a successful tree team.
\nHowever, we're also keen to hear from arb students, recent college leavers and trainees looking for the opportunity to gain practical experience and build a long-term career in the industry.
\nBROWNS is an established, family-run arboricultural contractor based in Great Brickhill, Milton Keynes. With over 30 years' experience, we provide professional tree care and arboricultural services to domestic, commercial and public-sector clients across Buckinghamshire, surrounding counties and further afield.
\nThe Opportunity
\nA good Groundsperson is a key part of every successful tree surgery team. For an experienced candidate, we're looking for someone who can take ownership of the ground operation, anticipate what the climber and team need and help keep sites safe, organised and running efficiently.
\nYou'll work alongside our climbers and wider team across a varied mix of tree work, with opportunities to develop your skills, qualifications and responsibilities as you progress with BROWNS. For those earlier in their career, we're happy to provide the right person with the training, experience and support needed to develop.
\nWhat You'll Be Doing
\n%CF; Supporting climbers during pruning and dismantling operations
\n%CF; Running an organised and efficient ground operation
\n%CF; Processing brash and timber
\n%CF; Operating woodchippers and other machinery
\n%CF; Chainsaw work including cross-cutting and snedding
\n%CF; Assisting with rigging and lowering operations
\n%CF; Site set-up, management and clear-down
\n%CF; Maintaining safe working and drop zones
\n%CF; Loading and organising vehicles, tools and equipment
\n%CF; Looking after machinery and equipment
\n%CF; Working closely with the team to complete jobs safely and efficiently
\nAbout You
\nFor an experienced Groundsperson, we're looking for someone who understands the job properly — reliable, organised, safety-conscious and able to think ahead rather than simply waiting to be told what to do next.
\nYou may even be an experienced climber who now prefers working from the ground and wants to progress towards greater responsibility within a team. We're also interested in people who are currently studying or have recently completed an Arboriculture course, such as at Moulton College or another land-based college, and are looking for a work placement or their first permanent industry position.
\nAbove all, we're looking for a strong work ethic, good attitude and someone who wants to be part of the team.
\nQualifications & Experience
\nFor experienced candidates, ideally you'll have:
\n%CF; Previous tree surgery / arboricultural experience
\n%CF; Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross-cutting – CS30 / current equivalent
\n%CF; Felling Small Trees – CS31 / current equivalent
\n%CF; Woodchipper qualification
\n%CF; Emergency First Aid +F
\n%CF; Full UK driving licence
\n%CF; Good understanding of safe arboricultural working practices
\nDon't have everything above? Trainees and college students are still encouraged to apply. We're prepared to invest in training and qualifications for the right person.
\nWhy BROWNS?
\nWe're entering an exciting period of growth and are investing in our people, equipment and the future of the business.
\nWe offer:
\n%CF; £25,000–£36,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications
\n%CF; Regular paid overtime opportunities
\n%CF; 28 days holiday including bank holidays
\n%CF; Company pension %CF; Company sick pay
\n%CF; Ongoing training and industry qualifications
\n%CF; Uniform and PPE provided
\n%CF; Modern, well-maintained equipment
\n%CF; Varied domestic and commercial work
\n%CF; Genuine opportunities for progression
\n%CF; Friendly, family-run working environment
