Pediatric School-Based Speech Language Pathologist - Detroit, Michigan
Job Description
Step into a dynamic opportunity supporting students in a vibrant school community near Detroit, MI. This full-time contract role focuses on providing speech-language pathology services to a diverse pediatric caseload, working across two school buildings serving PK through 8th grade. The typical day starts between 7:15 and 7:45 AM and ends between 3:45 and 4:15 PM, with the option to adjust hours as needed for work-life balance.
Key Qualifications:
- Current SLP licensure and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
- Experience working with pediatric populations, particularly in school settings
- Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 50 students across grades PK-8
- Skilled at collaborating with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders in students
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Track student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and provide updates to staff and families
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and team planning sessions
- Offer consultation and resources to teachers and support staff on communication strategies
- Foster an inclusive, positive environment that helps students thrive academically and socially
