Position Overview

This role focuses on the creation and management of evidence-based culinary medicine and medical nutrition therapy initiatives. It also entails overseeing kitchen operations and staff to ensure seamless service delivery and exceptional care quality. Responsibilities include teaching, mentoring, evaluating programs, monitoring compliance, and engaging in professional development to enhance practices in line with the latest research and trends.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Culinary Medicine and Nutrition Therapy Oversight: Design, implement, and manage culinary medicine and medical nutrition therapy programs that are appropriate for various age groups and cultural backgrounds, adhering to evidence-based guidelines.
  2. Instruction and Mentorship: Demonstrate strong teaching abilities both within the Teaching Kitchen and beyond, mentor and assess dietetic interns/students, and offer consultation and educational support to clinical staff and the community.
  3. Program and Operational Management: Utilize organizational skills to ensure efficient operations, including supervising the teaching kitchen, training staff, and coordinating patient/client care.
  4. Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring: Develop and maintain systems for assessing program quality and ensuring compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and credentialing standards. Formulate compliance strategies and assist in their implementation.
  5. Professional Growth and Knowledge Integration: Stay informed about current trends in food and culinary nutrition, apply nutrition research to practice, and engage in professional development and educational opportunities.
Essential Qualifications
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of progressive experience in culinary nutrition and/or clinical dietetics is required. Teaching experience is advantageous.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or a closely related field is mandatory; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Licensure and Certification: Must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing body of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as a Registered Dietitian. Additionally, licensure as a Dietitian in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required.
