  • Demonstrates knowledge of the conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered for surgical patients

  • Individualizes patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care
  • \n
  • Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions
  • \n

Responsibility and Accountability

  • Contributes to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care
  • \n
  • Prioritizes the care of patients depending on their needs and any changes in their condition
  • \n
\n

Patient Education and Chart Completion

  • Assesses patient's understanding of surgical procedure/instructions
  • \n
  • Actively includes the patient and family members in teaching
  • \n
  • Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education
  • \n

Duties Specific to PAT RN

\n
    \n
  • Supports the completion of patient testing in a timely manner
  • \n
  • Evaluates Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and for potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health
  • \n
\n

Required Skills & Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU experience – Required
  • \n
  • Must have ICU experience (High Acuity SDU)
  • \n
  • RN License – Required
  • \n
  • BLS – Required
  • \n
  • ACLS – Required
  • \n
\n

Education

\n
    \n
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • \n
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree – Preferred
  • \n
\n
