Overview:

This role involves conducting therapeutic and diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures, ensuring high-quality images are produced for radiologists and physicians to analyze.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate cameras that detect and map radioactive substances within patients to generate diagnostic images.
• Accurately position patients and select the appropriate anatomical and technical parameters.
• Order, prepare, administer, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with established protocols.
• Adhere to radiation safety standards and procedures.
• Ensure timely submission of high-quality images and documentation to PACS, including correct lead markers and patient information.
• Verify that equipment is functioning properly and report any issues or malfunctions to the relevant personnel. Lock/tag out equipment when necessary.
• Assist in keeping the department clean and organized.
• Maintain a state of alertness and operate safely at all times.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Completion of a Nuclear Medicine Technology program.

Experience:

• No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly stand and walk.
• Frequently utilize vision and depth perception for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
• Engage in frequent oral communication using hearing and speech.
• Use hearing to detect body sounds and alarms from malfunctioning equipment.
• Lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.
• Assist in lifting and moving patients frequently.
• Regularly reach, grip, and perform data entry tasks.
• Occasionally lift and move objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
• Occasionally use vision to differentiate colors.
• Occasionally bend, stoop, squat, twist, and perform repetitive movements with legs and arms.
• Rarely kneel or sit.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• And
• Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
• Or
• ARRT-N Nuclear Medicine Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
