Job Description
WCS HealthCare is partnering with a large organization dedicated to serving patients with developmental disabilities throughout the Hudson Valley. We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) to join a team of interdisciplinary professionals supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) at a clinic located in Kingston, NY. Position Responsibilities:

- Review MD referrals and medical records prior to determining OT treatment needs. \n
- Refer individuals to specialty clinics as needed (e.g., adaptive equipment, shoes, augmentative communication, splints). \n
- Maintain active and up-to-date MD prescriptions in accordance with NYS Department of Health (DOH) and Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) guidelines. \n
- Evaluate and assess individuals' needs and functioning in areas such as:\n
- \n
- Cognitive/perceptual skills \n
- Sensorimotor and musculoskeletal status \n
- Gross and fine motor skills \n
- CNS functionTransfers and mobility \n
- Adaptive equipment and assistive technology \n
\n - Conduct evaluations within facility-specified timeframes. \n
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to gather additional information and integrate input from individuals, families, and direct care staff. \n
- Develop and implement treatment plans including: \n
- Therapeutic exercises\n
- \n
- Mat activities \n
- ADLs \n
- Exploration of assistive technology (e.g., power mobility) \n
- Physical agent modalities (e.g., hot packs, cold packs, paraffin) \n
\n - Write specific, objective, and measurable documentation through ECW, detailing needs, treatment potential, and progress, within established timeframes. \n
- Provide training to individuals, families, and direct care staff. \n
- Communicate effectively regarding discharge planning from rehabilitative programs. \n
- Participate in care plan and team meetings as needed.Supervise COTAs, therapists on limited permits, and OT interns across healthcare, day, and residential settings. \n
Position Qualifications:
\n- \n
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program. \n
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State.Strong knowledge of OT evaluation and treatment principles. \n
- Ability to supervise assistants and interns. \n
- Familiarity with physical agent modalities and mobility devices. \n
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and electronic documentation systems. \n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. \n
