Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to oversee and coordinate nursing care within the cath lab and interventional radiology departments. Key ResponsibilitiesThe following duties outline the essential functions and performance expectations for this role:

Assessment (20%):
- Conduct thorough nursing assessments for new admissions or transfers upon arrival in the PACU.
- Accurately document patient assessments.
- Provide timely ongoing reassessments, noting significant observations.

Planning (10%):
- Develop and coordinate a care plan based on initial assessment data, patient diagnosis, and physician orders.
- Identify patient care needs and formulate nursing interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure a cohesive daily care plan for assigned patients.

Implementation (30%):
- Provide and document nursing interventions based on assessed patient needs and changes in condition.
- Communicate and document patient care with other disciplines effectively.
- Educate patients and plan for discharge, ensuring accurate documentation on the PACU flow sheet.
- Review and implement physician orders promptly and accurately.
- Recognize changes in patient conditions and take appropriate nursing actions.
- Administer medications and therapies in accordance with policy guidelines.
- Assist physicians during procedures and examinations.

Evaluation (10%):
- Document the effectiveness of nursing care and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Evaluate patient education effectiveness and modify approaches as needed.
- Assess pain management effectiveness and take appropriate actions.

Professional Development (10%):
- Engage in continuous learning to enhance professional skills through committee participation, staff meetings, and educational programs.
- Be punctual and ready to start duties at the beginning of each shift.
- Act as a resource for colleagues, patients, and families.
- Identify issues, gather relevant data, and propose solutions while communicating effectively.

Safety and Infection Control (5%):
- Adhere to safety and infection control policies, including universal precautions.
- Maintain a clean and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Complete all annual mandatory training requirements.

Service Excellence (10%):
- Deliver high-quality care in a respectful and courteous manner.
- Listen to and address patient and family concerns effectively.
- Provide accurate reports and collaborate with other departments to ensure continuity of care.

Quality Improvement (5%):
- Participate in developing and implementing unit-based quality improvement plans.
- Collect and discuss quality improvement data as assigned.

Age-Appropriate Care:
- Provide care tailored to the developmental needs of patients across various age groups.

Specialized Care:
- Implement appropriate care strategies for patients at high risk for injury, including pain management and abuse assessment.
- Minimum Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background.
- Minimum Experience: At least one year of medical-surgical experience is required; critical care or post-anesthesia care experience is preferred.
- Required Courses: Advanced Life Support (ALS).
- Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens and various patient circumstances.
- Potential exposure to unpleasant elements such as accidents and illnesses.
- Ability to handle emergencies and work irregular hours under pressure.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and pulling 100 pounds.
- Frequent reaching, bending, and other physical activities are required.
Applicants must hold the following certifications based on their state of work location:
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
- Registered Nurse (RN) license from the respective state’s regulatory body.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
This position is a full-time role with a day shift schedule, requiring 40 hours per week.
