Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct nursing care to patients and their families, adhering to established protocols, policies, and practices.
Work Location: Oncology Unit - Main Campus
Work Schedule: 36 Hours - Evening/Night Shifts (Weekends and Holidays Required)
Shift Timing: Nights from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
The Community RN Career Direct Care Pathway consists of four levels based on the RN's experience, education, and qualifications.
Level I - Less than 12 Months of RN Experience.
Level II - 12 Months to Less than 3 Years of RN Experience.
Level III - 3 Years to Less than 8 Years of RN Experience.
Level IV - 8 Years or More of RN Experience.
Key Responsibilities: The following duties outline the general nature of the role and are not exhaustive. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
- Engages in and maintains awareness of performance improvement initiatives.
- Carefully assesses and incorporates evidence-based practices and research into clinical care.
- Conducts and accurately documents clinical evaluations.
- Creates, implements, and assesses individualized care plans for patients.
- Utilizes professional nursing judgment to tailor care plans based on patient assessments.
- Manages patient assignments by delegating tasks effectively according to patient needs and team members' skills.
- Designs a thorough educational plan for patients and families, utilizing appropriate resources and documenting in line with departmental standards.
- Upholds patient and family rights by supporting informed decisions and advanced directives.
- Continuously reviews and updates care plans based on changes in patient health status.
- Creates a comprehensive discharge plan, utilizing relevant resources and referrals, including community services.
- Assists in the onboarding and development of new staff, facilitating their integration into the unit.
- Mentors department staff to foster their professional growth through precepting.
- Engages in professional development by identifying educational needs and pursuing relevant training.
- Participates in departmental committees as required.
Position Requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
- Valid RN Licensure in Massachusetts.
- 12 Months to Less than 3 Years of RN Experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Department-specific certifications relevant to the type of patient care may be required.

The base pay ranges reflect the minimum qualifications for this position.
