\nPosition Overview
\nWe are seeking experienced Safety Coordinators to oversee civil and sitework safety on a large-scale data center construction project in Vineland, NJ. These roles focus exclusively on outdoor operations involving earthmoving, excavation, trenching, heavy equipment, and site preparation. The Safety Coordinator will ensure strict compliance with OSHA standards, site-specific safety plans, and best practices while working alongside superintendents, subcontractors, and equipment operators in an active, high-production environment.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Conduct daily and ongoing safety inspections of excavation, trenching, earthmoving, grading, and heavy equipment operations. \n
- Enforce trench and excavation safety requirements, including soil classification, sloping, benching, shoring, and protective systems. \n
- Monitor heavy equipment operations (excavators, dozers, loaders, compactors, etc.) for proper use, exclusion zones, spotter requirements, and operator competency. \n
- Identify and mitigate hazards related to underground utilities, soil conditions, water intrusion, traffic control, and material handling. \n
- Lead or participate in daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning focused on civil/sitework activities. \n
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and equipment-related events; document findings and drive corrective actions. \n
- Verify that subcontractors and operators are following approved safety plans, lift plans (where applicable), and equipment inspection protocols. \n
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection records, and training logs. \n
- Coordinate with site leadership on stop-work authority and escalating safety concerns. \n
- Support new-hire orientations and ongoing safety training specific to outdoor civil operations. \n
Must-Have Qualifications
\n- \n
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction (or higher – OSHA 500/510 preferred) \n
- Demonstrated civil/construction safety experience overseeing earthwork, excavation, trenching, and heavy machinery operations \n
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subpart P (Excavations) and related heavy equipment standards \n
- Ability to work full-time on an active outdoor construction site in varying weather conditions \n
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation \n
- Ability to walk the site extensively, climb in/out of excavations, and work around heavy equipment \n
Preferred Qualifications
\n- \n
- Previous experience on data center, industrial, or large infrastructure projects \n
- Competent Person designation for excavations \n
- Experience with soil classification and protective system selection \n
- First Aid/CPR certification \n
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus \n
Work Environment
\nFull-time, on-site position on a large data center project. Primarily outdoor work involving active excavation and heavy equipment operations. Must be comfortable enforcing safety standards in a fast-paced production environment.
