Job Description

We are seeking a Benefits Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in benefits administration, compliance, and employee support and a proven ability to manage routine benefits operations accurately while ensuring adherence to policies and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify calculations of periodic premium and administrative statements for group insurance policies and process vendor invoices for payment, including spreadsheet preparation for accounting.
  • Answer routine employee benefits questions and coordinate escalations with subject matter experts as needed.
  • Handle routine department mailings. Complete benefit questionnaires and forms. Administer Qualified Medical Child Support Orders and verify employee-submitted documentation.
  • Facilitate premium payments for employees on leave of absence. Coordinate eligibility and enrollments for retiree medical and retiree life benefits.
  • Calculate and communicate COBRA subsidies related to layoff, military leave, and employee deaths.
  • Manage FSA and COBRA error reports, Adoption Assistance administration, filing, and other assigned tasks.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1–2 years of experience administering employee benefit programs.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic knowledge of HR and benefits, strong mathematical and analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Customer service skills with effective verbal communication.
  • Ability to identify issues and resolve from established options. Recommend process improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with payroll, HRIS, and benefits databases.
  • Proven team collaboration skills and the ability to work independently within function.
  • Strong organization and time management to meet deadlines while maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with leave of absence administration.
  • Experience with AI-enabled tools or workflows.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
