Position Overview

Job Title: Aerospace Products Repair/Modifications Technician
Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (12-Month Assignment)
Location: Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 1st & 2nd Shift Available (Please indicate shift preference upon submission)
Pay Rate: $47.78/hour ($42.69/hr + $5.09/hr Health & Welfare)

As an Aerospace Products Repair/Modifications Technician, you will provide direct support to the C-17 Globemaster III Integrated Sustainment Program, performing critical repair, maintenance, modification, and troubleshooting activities that ensure aircraft remain safe, reliable, and mission-ready. Your expertise will play a vital role in keeping one of the world's most important military transport aircraft operating at peak performance.

What You'll Do

In this hands-on role, you will:

  • Assemble, disassemble, modify, and upgrade aircraft systems and components.
  • Perform repairs and retrofit activities to correct failures and implement engineering changes.
  • Configure aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot complex pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems to identify and resolve faults.
  • Conduct validation and verification testing of aircraft systems and components.
  • Inspect components and completed repairs to ensure flightworthiness standards are met.
  • Document repairs, inspections, modifications, and test results to maintain contractual and regulatory compliance.
  • Support and oversee assembly, disassembly, overhaul, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with training and knowledge transfer efforts.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety standards and operating procedures.
  • Work under general direction while exercising sound technical judgment and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • 3+ years of experience working at heights and using fall protection equipment with weight limitations of 225 lbs. or less.
  • 3+ years of experience reading, understanding, and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • 3+ years of experience identifying hazardous working conditions and safety concerns through routine inspections of equipment and work areas.
  • 3+ years of experience in repair, maintenance, retrofit processes, and aerospace maintenance practices.
  • Ability to pass Ground Operations Personnel (GOP) and air respirator medical physicals and maintain required qualifications/certifications.
  • This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Highly qualified candidates may also have:

  • Experience supporting C-17 Globemaster III aircraft operations and maintenance.
  • Minimum of 3 years of C-17 platform experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret C-17 blueprints and USAF Technical Orders.
  • Knowledge of live aircraft operations and support environments.
  • Experience working across multiple aircraft systems, including:
    • Pneumatic systems
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Structural systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Propulsion systems
  • Proven ability to maintain quality, safety, and productivity while working within demanding schedules.
  • Experience establishing work procedures and quality standards in aviation maintenance environments.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Typically 4+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, such as:
    • Vocational or technical training
    • Associate degree plus related experience
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

Pay Details: $47.78 per hour
