\nCAD Design Manager – Up to £65,000 Per Annum + Car Allowance
\nMonday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm
\nMacildowie has exclusively partnered with a manufacturing business in Stafford to recruit a CAD Design Manager.
\nThe key objective is to lead an established in-house design team responsible for developing and mentoring team members, improving design processes, driving standardisation and automation.
\nMain Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Lead and manage the Design Team, overseeing priorities, workload, performance, development, resource planning and delivery of project outputs. \n
- Drive the continuous development of the Design function through improved processes, new technologies, standardised solutions and continuous improvement initiatives. \n
- Act as the primary point of escalation for technical queries, providing guidance and support to the Design Team. \n
- Drive design automation and standardisation across the function. \n
- Review and approve design packs prior to submission to clients. \n
- Develop practical solutions for non-standard applications, working collaboratively with internal departments and external partners. \n
- Coordinate with internal teams and external specialists to ensure structural calculations, wind load assessments and other compliance documentation are completed where required. \n
- Provide technical support and problem-solving expertise to internal teams, resolving design queries and updating documentation as necessary. \n
- Own and maintain design standards, templates and best-practice processes. \n
- Ensure effective document control and revision management procedures are followed. \n
- Balance technical compliance with commercial viability, identifying opportunities to minimise design-related project costs. \n
- Conduct occasional site surveys and meet with customer representatives to maintain an understanding of site challenges and ensure the Design Team remains closely connected to project requirements. \n
- Produce site-specific designs where required. \n
- Manage the design handover to the Projects Team, ensuring all documentation, design revisions and variations are accurately communicated. \n
- Lead root-cause analysis of design issues and implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions. \n
The Candidate
\n- \n
- Previous experience in a similar role with experience of leading and managing a design team. \n
- Proficient user of AutoCAD \n
- Awareness and understanding of BIM. \n
- Demonstrable experience leading, mentoring and developing a design team, including workload management, performance management and maintaining technical standards. \n
- Strong technical knowledge, with the ability to review, approve and value-engineer design solutions. \n
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, customers and installation teams to achieve successful project delivery. \n
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining quality, accuracy and programme deadlines. \n
