Care to Join Us?We currently have an exciting opportunity for two passionate and dedicated Designated Teachersto join Southampton.These are both full-time positions (37 hours per week), with one role offered on a 52-week contract and the other on a 40-week term-time contract.The information below provides more detail about the roles and the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our learners.We offer great benefits including;Generous annual leaveEnhanced employer pension contributionRegular training and developmentDuties:Lead the college's strategic approach to supporting Looked After Children (LAC), Previously Looked After Children (PLAC) and other vulnerable learners, promoting personalised learning, wellbeing and positive progression.Act as the college's subject expert on LAC/PLAC needs, advising and supporting curriculum and support staff using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches.Oversee the completion, quality assurance and statutory review of PEPs, ensuring learner voice, ambitious targets and timely actions; coordinate IPRs where PEPs/POPs are not in place.Work directly with learners to ensure their views, strengths, goals and concerns are central to planning and support.Serve as the main point of contact for Local Authorities, Virtual Schools, Social Workers, carers and external agencies, attending statutory meetings and contributing to care planning.Identify and respond to emerging needs through transition, referrals and coordinated support with internal teams and external services, including refugees and unaccompanied asylum seekers.Maintain accurate, secure records and reporting relating to care status, attendance, progress, behaviour and related statutory requirements, including weekly LA attendance reports where required.Promote high expectations for attendance, behaviour, engagement and progression, supporting learners to overcome barriers and fully participate in college life.Partnerships and ReputationEnsure that the college develops and maintains a constructive relationship with appropriate external stakeholders relevant to the postholder's areas of responsibility.Health and SafetyEnsure that the Health and Safety policy and procedures operated by the college are adhered to and that all statutory requirements are met by all staff with postholder's areas of responsibility.Equal OpportunityAdopt and promote a positive attitude towards equality of opportunity for all within the college and ensure that the related policies and procedures are adhered to and that all statutory requirements are met by all staff with postholder's areas of responsibility.Professional StandardsDevelop, maintain and exhibit the quality standards appropriate to the post and prmote a culture of integrity and transparency throughout all college activitiesUndertake appropriate staff development activities that support personal development and the changing needs of the college and its environment.Be aware of, and responsive to, the changing nature of the college and adopt a flexible and proactive approach to work.About UsThe South Hampshire College Group (SHCG) is a dynamic, purpose driven Further Education organisation with a commitment to Creating Better Futures for learners, employers and communities within South Hampshire and beyond.We pride ourselves on living our values - Collaborative, Inclusive and Aspirational.
