\nThe Opportunity
\nAs Pre-School Room Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of a busy and vibrant pre-school room, ensuring children receive the highest standards of care, education, and support.
\nYou will lead a team of practitioners, role model best practice, and create an environment that allows children to thrive socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.Working closely with the wider management team, you will play a vital role in the continued success of the nursery while supporting colleagues to deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
\nThis role would suit an experienced Room Leader looking for a fresh challenge or a confident Senior Early Years Practitioner ready to take the next step into a leadership position.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nLeadership and Team Management

- Lead, motivate, coach, and inspire a team of Early Years Practitioners and Senior Practitioners \n
- Support staff development through mentoring, training, and regular feedback \n
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture \n
- Ensure staffing levels, room routines, and daily operations run efficiently \n
- Lead room meetings and contribute to wider nursery improvement initiatives \n
Learning and Development
\n- \n
- Plan, implement, and review a high-quality curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) \n
- Create engaging learning opportunities that reflect children's interests, developmental needs, and individual next steps \n
- Encourage creativity, exploration, problem-solving, and independent learning through play \n
- Support children in achieving developmental milestones across all areas of learning \n
- Deliver enriching experiences that promote language development, communication skills, confidence, and school readiness \n
Observation, Assessment and Planning

- Maintain accurate observations, assessments, and developmental records \n
- Monitor children's progress and identify appropriate interventions where required \n
- Support key persons in completing learning journeys to a high standard \n
- Ensure planning is purposeful, challenging, and tailored to individual children's needs \n
- Work closely with families to ensure continuity between home and nursery learning \n
Safeguarding and Welfare

- Ensure safeguarding practices are embedded into everyday routines \n
- Maintain the highest standards of health and safety, hygiene, and child welfare \n
- Ensure all policies, procedures, and compliance requirements are followed consistently \n
Parent Partnerships
\n- \n
- Build strong and professional relationships with parents and carers \n
- Provide regular updates regarding children's progress and development \n
- Conduct parent meetings and support family engagement initiatives \n
- Act as an ambassador for the nursery, delivering exceptional customer service and care \n
The Ideal Candidate
\nTo be successful in this role, you will have:
\n- \n
- A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above \n
- Significant experience working within high-quality nursery or early years settings \n
- Previous Room Leader, Third-in-Charge, Senior Practitioner, or supervisory experience \n
- Comprehensive knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development \n
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures \n
- Excellent leadership and people management skills \n
- The ability to inspire and develop others \n
- Outstanding communication and organisational abilities \n
