Surveying Engineer

\n Our client, a key player in the Defence & Security sector, is looking for an experienced Surveying Engineer to join their team for a contract position based at the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth. With a significant focus on engineering and precision, this role plays an essential part in the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site. Working closely with an Engineering Survey Manager, the Surveying Engineer will ensure the success of complex construction tasks while adhering to security clearance requirements.

• Check and maintain survey control networks.
\n
• Conduct assurance surveys for RC structure construction, including pre-pour and post-pour checks.
\n
• Perform as-built surveys through laser scanning and modelling of point clouds.
\n
• Ensure survey data is collected and recorded accurately following project QA/QC standards.
\n
• Support engineers with setting out activities to ensure consistent approaches to surveying.
\n
• Prepare survey reports, drawings, and data outputs for engineering and construction teams.
\n
• Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to align construction programmes with survey operations.
\n
• Manage and archive survey files and records to support project compliance and audits using the Projects Document Management system.
\n
• Ensure all surveying works comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
\n

• Experience in engineering surveying, especially within the Defence & Security sector.
\n
• Proficiency with surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS/GNSS, and laser scanners.
\n
• Strong knowledge of survey data processing software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone, and Leica 3DR.
\n
• Understanding of QC1 procedures and quality documentation in a civil engineering context.
\n
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
\n
• CSCS Card and relevant site safety qualifications.
\n
• BPSS security clearance eligibility, noting that the clearance process may take up to 8 weeks.
