We are currently recruiting for an experienced and ambitious business head to join a growing education organisation in Birmingham.
\nThis is a senior leadership position with responsibility for developing and expanding the organisation’s Health, Social Care and Public Health provision.
\nThe successful candidate will combine strong academic leadership with commercial awareness, strategic thinking and a genuine passion for delivering high-quality education and positive student outcomes.

\n\nAbout the Role
\nReporting directly to the CEO, the role will provide strategic, academic and operational leadership across Health, Social Care and Public Health programmes.
\nYou will be responsible for maintaining high academic standards, developing the curriculum, improving student outcomes and identifying opportunities to grow and diversify the provision.
\nYou will work closely with senior leaders, academic teams and external partners to ensure programmes remain current, relevant and aligned with the changing needs of the health and care sectors.
\nA key part of the role will be developing new opportunities, strengthening industry and professional relationships and ensuring the organisation continues to provide education that supports employment, progression and long-term career development.
\n\nKey Responsibilities
\nStrategic & Academic Leadership
\nDevelop and implement the strategic direction for Health, Social Care and Public Health provision.
\nLead the continued growth and development of the academic portfolio.
\nIdentify opportunities for new courses, programmes and areas of provision.
\nMonitor developments across the health, care and education sectors and ensure provision remains relevant.
\nContribute to wider organisational strategy and senior leadership decisions.
\nPromote a culture focused on quality, innovation and student success.
\n\nQuality & Student Experience
\nTake overall responsibility for academic quality and standards across the portfolio.
\nEnsure students receive a high-quality learning experience.
\nMonitor student performance, retention, completion and progression.
\nUse data and feedback to identify areas for improvement.
\nEnsure programmes meet relevant regulatory, quality and professional requirements.
\nPromote equality, diversity, inclusion and accessible education.
\nCurriculum Development & Innovation
\nLead the development and review of Health, Social Care and Public Health programmes.
\nEnsure curriculum content reflects current industry and professional practice.
\nIdentify opportunities for innovative and flexible approaches to learning.
\nEncourage practical, employer-led and career-focused education.
\nSupport the development of programmes that improve student employability and progression.
\n\nLeadership & People Development
\nLead, motivate and develop academic teams.
\nEstablish a positive, collaborative and high-performing culture.
\nOversee workforce planning and resource requirements.
\nEnsure staff have appropriate development and CPD opportunities.
\nTake responsibility for the portfolio budget and financial performance.
\nSupport sustainable growth and expansion of provision.
\nIdentify opportunities to increase student recruitment and develop new income streams.
\nRespond positively to changing market conditions, funding arrangements and student demand.
\nExternal Relationships & Partnerships
\nDevelop strong relationships with employers, universities, healthcare organisations, care providers, public health bodies and professional organisations.
\nEstablish partnerships that enhance student experience and employability.
\nDevelop opportunities for placements, work experience and applied learning.
\nBuild the profile and reputation of the Health provision.
\n\nGovernance, Risk & Compliance
\nEnsure compliance with relevant education regulations and professional requirements.
\nMaintain effective quality assurance and academic governance.
\nOversee appropriate risk management within the portfolio.
\nEnsure safeguarding, health & safety and organisational policies are effectively implemented.
\n\nWe are looking for an experienced senior education professional who can demonstrate:
\nSignificant leadership experience within higher education, further education or a comparable education environment.
\nA PhD or equivalent higher-level qualification.
\nStrong academic or professional credibility within your specialist area.
\nExperience of leading teams and managing significant budgets and resources.
\nA proven record of improving performance, developing provision or delivering organisational change.
\nExperience working within a regulated or accredited education environment.
\nStrong knowledge of academic quality and governance.
\nExcellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
\nA genuine commitment to high-quality education and positive student outcomes.
\n\nThe following would be advantageous:
\nProfessorial or equivalent professional experience.
\nExperience managing large or multidisciplinary academic teams.
\nExperience with education regulatory or quality frameworks.
\nExperience developing new qualifications, courses or academic programmes.
\nA successful track record of developing partnerships with employers, universities or professional organisations.
\nExperience of growing an academic portfolio and increasing student recruitment.
