Location: LondonRate: £600 Per day (Negotiable) Contract: 6 - Months

Spencer Clarke Group are supporting a local authority within Housing and Regeneration to appoint an Interim Head of Economic Development. This is a senior leadership role focused on shaping regeneration and economic strategy, driving delivery across key opportunity areas, and building a credible pipeline of investment and place-based growth.

You will lead a small Economic Development team and work closely with senior stakeholders to develop strategies, masterplans, briefs and business cases that unlock funding and deliver measurable outcomes for residents and businesses.

Responsibilities include

• Lead the design and delivery of borough-wide economic development and regeneration strategy
\n
• Develop masterplans, briefs, feasibility work and robust business cases to support investment decisions
\n
• Build partnerships with local business groups and sub-regional and pan-London partners to leverage inward investment
\n
• Identify and secure external funding, including bid coordination and delivery assurance
\n
• Provide leadership across governance, budget management, risk, procurement and programme delivery
\n
• Champion a fair, vibrant and future-ready local economy, aligned with the Council's wider priorities
\n

About you

\n
• Senior leadership experience in economic development, regeneration or place-based growth, ideally in local government
\n
• Strong track record delivering strategy, masterplanning frameworks, feasibility work and business cases
\n
• Demonstrable success securing investment and/or external funding
\n
• Confident operating in a political environment with strong stakeholder management skills
\n
• Strong programme leadership, commercial awareness, and experience overseeing procurement and contracts
