Senior Mechanical Design Engineer | Peterborough / Hybrid Working Available | Full Time | £50,000 to £60,000 per annumAre you a talented Mechanical Design Engineer ready to take the next step in your career with an industry-leading ventilation specialist?Based in the Cambridgeshire town of Peterborough since 2002, our client have established itself as one of the UKs leading suppliers of kitchen ventilation and extraction systems to the catering industry.They have invested in state-of-the-art equipment which enables them to design, manufacture and install high-quality commercial kitchen extraction and ventilation systems for high-profile clients across the hospitality, catering and construction sectors.This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and growing business, working on bespoke projects where you will play a key role throughout the full design and delivery process.The RoleThis is a superb opportunity for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join the business as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer within a growing team.The role will involve designing, implementing and supporting the delivery of commercial kitchen ventilation systems, working on projects ranging from £5,000 to £500,000.The successful candidate will be involved from initial customer requirements through to completed installation, including developing engineering solutions, completing site surveys, producing technical drawings, gaining customer approvals and supporting installation teams.This is a hybrid position combining office-based design work with customer/site visits across London and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will be required to commute to the Peterborough office when required.Key ResponsibilitiesDesigning and overseeing the design of HVAC systems, including commercial kitchen extract hoods and ventilation systems, air handling units, general building ventilation, toilet ventilation and air conditioning systemsReviewing customer requirements and developing practical, cost-effective engineering solutionsCompleting site surveys, taking accurate measurements and assessing installation requirementsCreating and revising technical drawings and design layouts for customer approvalProducing bills of materials and supporting production teams with accurate design informationLiaising with customers, subcontractors and internal teams throughout the design and installation processProviding technical support during installation, troubleshooting issues and resolving design queriesSupporting the quotation process by gathering technical information and assisting with project proposalsFocusing on energy efficiency, quality and practical installation throughout projectsRequirementsEssential5-10 years experience within mechanical design engineeringProven experience designing mechanical systems, ideally within commercial ventilation, HVAC or related environmentsStrong mechanical design experience with excellent technical drawing skillsExperience using 3D CAD/CAM technologiesAbility to interpret customer requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutionsStrong understanding of mechanical systems and installation requirementsComfortable attending customer sites and working with clients and subcontractorsStrong knowledge of Microsoft OfficeExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsA proactive, adaptable and self-motivated approach with a strong desire to deliver high-quality solutionsDesirableExperience within the ventilation industryExperience taking designs through construction, testing, supporting calculations and documentationExperience within HVAC, building services or mechanical systems designExperience working within a manufacturing or engineering environmentDesire to develop into a higher-level positionPassionate about new technologies and engineering solutionsWhats In It For YouCompetitive salary of £60,000 per annum28 days holiday (including bank holidays)Company pension schemeCompany car or car allowance availableHybrid working availableMileage expenses coveredOpportunity to join an established and growing teamThe chance to work on varied, bespoke commercial projects for high-profile clientsA role combining design, customer interaction, site involvement and practical engineering support rather than being purely office-basedWhats next?
