We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive SEN secondary school in Croydon. This rewarding role involves working closely with students who require additional behavioural, emotional and pastoral support, helping them to engage positively with education and achieve their full potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Behaviour Mentors, Teaching Assistants, Youth Workers, Support Workers, Sports Coaches or graduates considering a future career in education, psychology, social work or youth intervention.

The Role

\n

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:

    \n
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with additional needs
  • \n
  • Help students develop positive behaviour, social skills and emotional resilience
  • \n
  • Support pupils both within the classroom and during less structured parts of the school day
  • \n
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students to promote engagement and attendance
  • \n
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and intervention programmes
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, SEN staff and external professionals
  • \n
  • Support students in managing emotions and making positive choices
  • \n
  • Encourage independence, confidence and personal development
  • \n
\n

The Ideal Candidate

\n

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience working with young people in education, youth work, care or support settings
  • \n
  • Are confident supporting students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs or behavioural challenges
  • \n
  • Possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • \n
  • Remain calm, patient and professional in challenging situations
  • \n
  • Have strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • \n
  • Are committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
  • \n
  • Can demonstrate resilience, empathy and a proactive attitude
  • \n
\n

Previous experience within an SEN school environment is desirable but not essential.
