\nHays Education are working with a number of inclusive and supportive primary schools in the Small Heath (B10) area who are looking to appoint caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Assistants for the new academic year starting in September 2026.If you're passionate about making a difference and helping children overcome barriers to learning, we'd love to hear from you.Your new role
\nAs an SEN Teaching Assistant or 1:1 Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.Responsibilities may include:
\n- \n
- Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEN \n
- Supporting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, and other additional learning needs \n
- Implementing strategies to support behaviour and engagement \n
- Encouraging independence, confidence and social development \n
- Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals \n
- Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment \n
Roles are available on both a full-time and part-time basis, with long-term opportunities throughout the academic year.What you'll need to succeed
\nI am keen to hear from candidates who:
\n- \n
- Have experience supporting children with SEN, either in schools or other child-focused settings \n
- Are patient, empathetic and resilient \n
- Have experience working on a 1:1 basis or with small intervention groups \n
- Are confident building positive relationships with pupils and staff \n
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs \n
- Hold a relevant qualification (desirable but not essential) \n
Experience in personal care, behaviour support, Makaton, PECS, Team Teach or similar interventions would be advantageous.What you'll get in return
