Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional looking to lead safety on a major capital investment project?

\n

Arla Foods is embarking on a significant transformation programme at our Felinfach site, including the demolition of an existing production area and the delivery of a large-scale redevelopment project involving utilities, civil engineering works, construction activities and the installation of new process plant and equipment.

\n

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of health and safety across the full project lifecycle and play a critical role in ensuring one of our most significant site investments is delivered safely, compliantly and successfully.

\n

Reporting to the Head of Capital Projects, you will be the Health & Safety lead for the project, working closely with project teams, contractors, engineers and site stakeholders to drive a strong safety culture from design through to commissioning.

\n

What you'll be doing

\n

As Projects Health & Safety Lead, you will:

\n
    \n
  • Lead all health & safety activities across a major capital investment programme
  • \n
  • Provide expert guidance throughout demolition, utilities, civil engineering, construction and plant installation phases
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, contractor management requirements and company standards
  • \n
  • Review and challenge project designs to eliminate or minimise risk at the earliest possible stage
  • \n
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and safety reviews across multiple workstreams
  • \n
  • Lead contractor safety engagement, including pre-start meetings, site inductions and safety briefings
  • \n
  • Support permit-to-work and high-risk activity management
  • \n
  • Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented
  • \n
  • Partner with project managers, contractors and operational teams to continuously improve project safety performance
  • \n
  • Act as the visible safety leader throughout the project, promoting a proactive and positive safety culture
  • \n

What we're looking for

\n

We're looking for someone who thrives in complex project environments and has experience overseeing health & safety across major construction or capital projects.

\n

You'll ideally have:

\n
    \n
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent H&S qualification
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations
  • \n
  • Proven experience leading health & safety on construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or major capital projects
  • \n
  • Experience managing contractor safety and multiple simultaneous workstreams
  • \n
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • \n
  • The confidence to challenge unsafe behaviours and drive positive change
  • \n
  • A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work effectively on site
  • \n
\n

Experience of demolition projects, utilities infrastructure, industrial construction or manufacturing environments would be highly advantageous.
