\n The Opportunity\n
\n An established building services and maintenance business is looking for a Mechanical Project Manager to join its Peterborough team, with a strong focus on commercial plumbing and heating maintenance.\n
\n This is a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Supervisor, Contracts Supervisor, Mechanical Engineer or similar who is ready to take the next step into a project/contract management position.\n
\n The role is approximately 70% office-based and 30% client/site-based, giving you responsibility for coordinating engineering resources, planning works, dealing directly with clients and attending sites across the Cambridgeshire region.\n
\n You will oversee a team of up to eight engineers, coordinating approximately 5060 planned maintenance jobs throughout the year. The workload is predominantly planned preventative maintenance, with a smaller reactive maintenance element.\n
\n This is a hands-on management role where your technical knowledge of commercial heating and plumbing will be important.\n
\n Key Responsibilities\n
\n

\n
• Coordinate and manage a team of up to eight mechanical/plumbing and heating engineers.
\n
• Plan and oversee approximately 5060 planned maintenance and project works throughout the year.
\n
• Manage predominantly planned preventative maintenance (PPM), alongside reactive maintenance requirements.
\n
• Allocate engineers to jobs and ensure works are completed efficiently and within agreed timescales.
\n
• Coordinate workloads, materials, access requirements and client expectations.
\n
• Act as a key point of contact for clients across the Cambridgeshire region.
\n
• Attend client sites to carry out surveys, inspect works, discuss requirements and provide technical support.
\n
• Review and prepare quotations, variations and estimates where required.
\n
• Monitor the progress, quality and commercial performance of works.
\n
• Manage subcontractors where required and ensure works are completed safely and to specification.
\n
• Ensure all works comply with relevant health & safety legislation, company procedures and industry standards.
\n
• Produce and review RAMS, reports, quotations and other project documentation.
\n
• Identify additional works and opportunities while attending client sites.
\n
• Support engineers with technical queries and provide practical guidance when required.
\n
• Maintain accurate records of planned and reactive works using the company's CAFM/job management systems.
\n
• Take ownership of customer issues and ensure they are followed through to completion.
\n
• Support the ongoing development, training and performance of the engineering team.
\n

Essential Experience\n
\n

\n
• Strong background in commercial plumbing and heating.
\n
• Experience within mechanical building services, facilities management, maintenance or service environments.
\n
• Previous responsibility for supervising or coordinating engineers.
\n
• Experience managing planned preventative maintenance and/or reactive maintenance.
\n
• Good understanding of commercial heating, plumbing and associated mechanical systems.
\n
• Confident dealing directly with clients and site representatives.
\n
• Able to organise multiple jobs and engineering resources effectively.
\n
• Good understanding of RAMS, safe systems of work and construction/maintenance health & safety requirements.
\n
• Commercial awareness, including quotations, variations and basic budget control.
\n
• Comfortable using job management/CAFM software.
\n
• Full UK driving licence.
\n

Desirable\n
\n

\n
• NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating or a relevant mechanical qualification.
\n
• SSSTS/SMSTS.
\n
• Gas Safe, ACS, OFTEC or other relevant industry qualifications.
\n
• Experience working to SFG20 planned maintenance standards.
\n
• Previous experience working across manufacturing, commercial, education or industrial environments.
\n
• Experience managing a 24/7 or emergency callout function.
\n
• The business currently uses Service Life for job and maintenance management, with a planned move to Joblogic.
\n
