Opportunity for a Thoracic Pathology Physician in Pittsburgh, PA

Our organization is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of Assistant, Associate, or Professor in the academic clinical track within the Division of Anatomic Pathology at a prominent medical center affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Thoracic Pathology.

  • Become part of a strong network of 131 Pathologists across the system, including three specialists in the thoracic division.
  • The role includes teaching and case sign-out duties, along with significant opportunities for translational research, leveraging advanced resources in our molecular genomic and digital pathology laboratories.
  • Our department will offer startup resources and dedicated time to ensure a thriving academic career.
  • While experience in head and neck pathology is advantageous, it is not a mandatory requirement.
  • The Thoracic Pathology Center of Excellence (COE) features three Pulmonary Pathologists and is recognized for its proficiency in both neoplastic and non-neoplastic lung conditions, as well as transplant pathology.
  • This COE handles over 5,000 thoracic cases annually and serves as a consultation reference laboratory at local, regional, and national levels, including telepathology services.
  • Additionally, it provides a one-year ACGME accredited Thoracic Fellowship program.

  • Compensation will be based on experience.
  • Full-time faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh, participating in the faculty practice plan.
  • A relocation allowance of $10,000.

Qualifications

  • A Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and Board certification in Anatomic Pathology, with specialized training and a keen interest in thoracic pathology.
  • Must be eligible for medical licensure in Pennsylvania.
  • A demonstrated commitment to scholarly activities and a record of publications is essential.
