Job Description
Make an impact as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher working with schools in the heart of the New Orleans region. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to collaborate with students across a variety of campuses, providing specialized physical education support. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through May 22, 2026, with the flexibility to consider part-time candidates available at least three days each week.
What You'll Bring:
- Minimum of a PE teaching credential; APE certification strongly preferred
- Experience providing adaptive or general physical education in a school setting
- Ability to travel daily between 2-3 school sites; reliable transportation required
- Flexibility and strong organizational skills, with a talent for managing caseloads across multiple locations
- Effective communication for collaborating with staff, students, and families
- Successful completion of district-required drug screening and fingerprinting
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver adaptive physical education lesson plans for students with diverse needs
- Assess student abilities and collaborate with IEP teams to develop appropriate goals and modifications
- Provide direct instruction across different school sites according to district assignments
- Monitor and document student progress, ensuring compliance with educational standards
- Maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and school administration
- Adjust caseload and teaching approach in response to district needs or scheduling changes
