General Summary:
\nThe Pediatric APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:
\n- \n
- Performs admissions, consultations and follow up care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU setting, including intubation, ventilator management and other procedures that may be required. \n
- Managing medical and post-operative ICU patients. \n
- Conditions treated: Congenital Heart Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Epilepsy, Complex Medical, Liver Transplant. \n
- Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc. \n
- Educates patient and family on treatment plans, surgical procedures, pre- and post-operative care, etc. \n
- Monitors the patients course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed. \n
- Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff. \n
- Candidate must be able to successfully pass a third-party background check and pre-employment drug screen. \n
Knowledge and Skills Required:
\n- \n
- Enthusiastic team player, team currently consists of 5 PCICU physicians, and 4 other APPs. \n
- Group sees over 200 heart cases annually. \n
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, 12-hour shifts, days, evenings, weekends and holidays \n
- Day and Night shifts (630 am to 630 pm and night shifts are 630 pm to 630 am) \n
- Ability to perform procedures: lines, intubations, etc (highly preferred). \n
Education and Experience Required:
\n- \n
- Masters degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies \n
- Master of Science in Nursing in Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner preferred \n
- 1-3 years in experience as a Pediatric APRN or PA-C in an ICU, acute care or ER setting \n
- Cardiac ICU experience as an APRN or PA-C (Highly Preferred) \n
- Experience with ECMO (Highly Preferred) \n
Licensure, Certification, and Registration:
\n- \n
- Current, valid Florida APRN license (or eligibility to obtain FL licensure) \n
- Certification by Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) (Highly preferred) \n
- Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with Acute Care Certification (Highly preferred) \n
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification \n
