This contract position as a Developmental Adaptive Physical Education Teacher offers an exciting opportunity for someone skilled in adaptive PE to contribute in a dynamic school environment. You’ll work across two middle schools, collaborating with a supportive staff and directly influencing students’ growth and confidence in physical activity.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE) teaching license (required)
  • Previous experience in Adaptive Physical Education or working with students with disabilities preferred
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with special education teams, staff, and families
  • Ability to adapt physical education curriculum to meet individualized student needs
  • Commitment to fostering an equitable and positive learning environment
  • Updated resume demonstrating relevant experience (required for consideration)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide adaptive physical education services to students requiring specialized instruction, ensuring activities align with individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans designed to help students reach motor development and physical fitness goals
  • Conduct assessments and track student progress, reporting findings to educational teams and families
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and special education staff to support inclusive programming
  • Advocate for students by identifying and providing appropriate accommodations and modifications
  • Manage a full-time assignment (37.5 hours/week) across two campuses, supporting a diverse caseload
