Job Description
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for the upcoming academic year. This contract position begins August 19, 2026 and runs through May 28, 2027, offering the opportunity to provide essential educational support near Mifflintown, PA.
You'll play a key role in helping students thrive by delivering personalized instruction according to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and ensuring that each child receives the specialized resources and advocacy they deserve.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Holds an active Pennsylvania Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certification (PK–12)
- Previous experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Skilled in the use and support of hearing assistive technology, including FM/DM systems, AAC, and/or cochlear implants
Duties Include:
- Implementing specialized instruction and services as outlined in each student’s IEP
- Developing, carrying out, and monitoring IEP goals specifically tailored to meet the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborating with school staff, families, and related service providers to create inclusive learning environments
- Supporting students with hearing technology to enhance access and participation in educational activities
