Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (APE) - New Orleans, Louisiana

Make a direct impact on student wellness by providing adaptive physical education services across several schools near New Orleans, LA. This contract opportunity begins as soon as possible and runs through late May, allowing you to put your expertise into action throughout the academic year. As an itinerant educator, you'll travel between 2-3 designated schools, crafting and delivering individualized adaptive physical education programs for students with diverse needs.

Key Qualifications:

• Licensed Adaptive Physical Education Teacher or, at minimum, certified Physical Education Teacher
• Demonstrated experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting
• Ability to manage services and schedules across multiple campuses
• Reliable transportation and flexibility for inter-school travel
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Willingness to complete district-required drug screening and fingerprinting

Responsibilities:

• Assess student needs and develop tailored adaptive physical education lessons
• Deliver direct instruction to students, adjusting activities to meet individualized education plan (IEP) goals
• Collaborate with other educational, therapeutic, and support staff
• Maintain documentation of student progress and attendance
• Communicate regularly with families, teachers, and administrators
• Adjust schedules and itineraries to ensure timely services at all assigned locations

This full-time opportunity includes 35 hours per week during school hours, with part-time scheduling available (three days per week, seven-hour days) if arranged. The caseload and assigned schools will be determined by district needs and your schedule, spanning elementary through secondary levels.
