Position: Certified Medical Assistant – Western Branch Family PracticeJob Overview:The Certified Medical Assistant plays a vital role within our team, collaborating closely with primary care physicians to provide exceptional patient care to our community. This position ensures that services are delivered in accordance with the Medical Assisting scope and state regulations. Responsibilities include updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing examination rooms for patient visits.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver outstanding customer service by welcoming patients and community members with respect.
- Prepare and review patient charts for upcoming appointments, ensuring all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and medical records are accurate and current.
- Measure vital signs, including pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Perform clerical tasks related to the department, such as managing inventory, tracking supplies, handling referrals, and answering phones as necessary.
- Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Licensure/Certification:
- Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following is required:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); or other recognized certifications.
- If unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not valid in South Carolina).
- BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required at hire for specific locations and preferred at hire for others, with a requirement to obtain it prior to independent patient care.

Experience:
- One year of experience as a medical assistant is preferred but not mandatory.
- Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and basic computer skills, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage professionally with both staff and patients.
Salary Range:
Minimum: $19.03
Maximum: $28.54
