Position: Patient Services Representative (PSR) - Harbour View Medical CenterJob Overview:The Patient Services Representative serves as the initial point of contact for our patients and the community, ensuring high-quality service. This role involves managing patient registrations, confirming demographic details, collecting insurance information, and verifying patient identities. Key responsibilities include scheduling appointments, transcribing orders, explaining financial options to patients, and accurately updating medical records. Exceptional customer service is essential, and there may be occasions to assist at other physician practice locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the main liaison between patients and physician practices.
- Deliver excellent customer service by warmly greeting patients and community members.
- Handle incoming calls with a friendly demeanor, directing inquiries, scheduling appointments, and entering necessary data into the system promptly and accurately.
- Process patients as they arrive for their appointments.
- Quickly troubleshoot and resolve issues to maintain patient flow, promptly informing supervisors of any departmental or patient concerns.
- Complete admission paperwork, including basic insurance verification, and ensure all relevant patient demographic and insurance details are accurate during registration.
- Track lobby wait times and record time indicators.
- Calculate patient liabilities and actively collect payments.
- Reconcile cash drawers at the end of each day.
- Perform charge entry for external services, such as nursing homes, when necessary.
- Schedule referrals or follow-up appointments and assist with any changes to patient services, including online scheduling and MyChart support.
- Help patients obtain necessary referrals for follow-up services and maintain records using tracking tools.
- Assist in acquiring proper authorizations and pre-certifications for scheduled procedures as needed.
- Retrieve patient charts as required, maintaining and filing information according to office policies, and routing charts to clinical staff as necessary.
- Verify prescription benefits in the electronic health record as per established protocols.
- Direct patients to financial counselors for additional assistance with financial matters or payment arrangements, and complete accounts in revenue cycle software.

Qualifications:- Education: High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Licensure/Certification: None required
- Experience: Previous experience in patient registration or healthcare is preferred
Salary Range: Minimum: $19.97 | Maximum: $29.96
