As the Assistant Nurse Manager for Nursing Resources, you will play a critical leadership role supporting a dynamic float pool team that provides staffing flexibility and exceptional patient care across Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Progress West Hospital.

This role provides operational and clinical leadership for approximately 32 team members, including Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and sitters. You'll partner with nursing leaders throughout both hospitals to support staffing needs, develop team members, oversee patient care operations, and drive a culture of quality, collaboration, and excellence. In addition, you'll provide oversight for the discharge lounge, ER inpatient boarding operations, and assist with house supervisor coverage as needed.

The position supports both campuses, with approximately 60% of time spent at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and 40% at Progress West Hospital. Success in this role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to build strong relationships across multiple departments and care settings.

Job Highlights

\nOversee staff onboarding, education, competency reviews, performance management, and professional development.
\nSupport staffing coordination, scheduling, nursing assignments, payroll processes, and daily operational needs.
\nProvide leadership for float pool initiatives, discharge lounge operations, and ER inpatient boarding support.

Requirements
\nBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
\nLeadership experience as a Charge Nurse, Team Lead, House Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, or similar role preferred.
\nStrong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
\nDemonstrated ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and support operational excellence in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
\nA proactive, adaptable leader who demonstrates accountability, ownership, and a commitment to supporting both patients and caregivers.

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center.

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery and pulmonology. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation.

Role Purpose
\nCoordinates patient care, personnel management, maintenance of equipment, equipment purchased, and statistical accumulation.
\n\n
Responsibilities
\n- Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership. \n
- May participate in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and having direct responsibility for adhering to those goals. This includes responding to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals. \n
- Provides and oversees patient care according to planned interventions with regard to their age and developmental needs to attain the patient's optimal level of wellness and documents according to policy. \n
- Creates and ensures implementation of a collaborative plan of care based on assessment, diagnosis and medical treatment. \n
- May support the review of staff hours worked vs scheduled hours and determine appropriate disposition if variation exists. Perform and approve daily payroll updates. Reconcile time cards, bonus tracking and coding approval. Prepare, coordinate and execute all staff communications; prepare huddle agendas and lead meeting. Determine staffing needs; make nursing assignments as well as assign overtime. Recommend effective annual increases. Interview staff for open positions; evaluate and conduct performance reviews as assigned; draft and issue corrective actions/coaching; follow up regarding any disciplinary action to determine compliance. \n
