Job Description
Step into a dynamic contract opportunity supporting students in a welcoming Houston-area school setting. This full-time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, typically 8:00–4:00 or 7:30–3:30) is perfect for an experienced Occupational Therapist dedicated to making a positive impact on diverse learners ages 3–21. You’ll cover 6–7 schools within a dedicated zone, with thoughtful consideration of your commute from your ZIP code. Use the district office as your home base before heading out to support your assigned campuses.
What You Need:
- Current, active Texas OT license
- School-based or strong pediatric occupational therapy experience (highly qualified COTA’s with multiple years in schools considered)
- Proficiency with SHARES and Onward documentation systems (or willingness to learn)
- Ability to manage a caseload of around 70 (30–40 direct service; remainder consult-only)
- Strong organizational skills for rotating schedules and meticulous IEP documentation
- Willingness to work independently, as no COTAs will be assigned
- Reliable transportation for travel between schools within your zone
- State fingerprinting/background check completion
- Must not be a former employee of the school district or have been previously terminated from a school district (an affidavit is required)
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative OT services for students ages 3–21
- Conduct evaluations and contribute to ARDs
- Complete thorough documentation and maintain accurate records
- Serve as lead OT for your assigned zone
- Engage collaboratively with educational teams and families to maximize student outcomes
