We are seeking hardworking, dependable individuals to join a large-scale data center construction project in El Paso, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with general labor, construction, or skilled trades experience who are looking to build a long-term career in the low voltage and structured cabling industry.
No prior data center experience is required. Candidates with experience in landscaping, carpentry, drywall installation, concrete work, roofing, framing, plumbing assistance, electrical assistance, warehouse work, or other hands-on trades are encouraged to apply.
Candidates with previous low voltage, Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic, cable installation, or telecom experience may qualify for higher pay rates.
Job Details- Position: Data Center Cable Technician
- Location: El Paso, TX
- Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
- Schedule: Monday-Friday
- Typical Hours: 6:45 AM - 3:45 PM (some extended shifts and overtime may be available)
- Project Length: Long-term data center construction project
- Pay: Based on experience
- Entry-level candidates welcome
- Higher pay available for candidates with structured cabling experience
- Pulling and routing low voltage cable throughout the data center
- Assisting experienced technicians with installations
- Installing Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling systems
- Mounting cable trays, racks, patch panels, and network hardware
- Using hand and power tools safely
- Climbing ladders and working at varying heights
- Supporting the buildout of telecommunications and network infrastructure
- Organizing materials and maintaining a clean work area
- Learning industry-standard structured cabling installation practices
We are interested in candidates who:
- Have experience performing physical, hands-on work
- Possess a strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Can reliably report to work every day
- Want to learn a new trade with growth opportunities
- Have reliable transportation
- Can lift up to 40 pounds
- Are comfortable working indoors and outdoors
Experience in any of the following is highly transferable:
- Landscaping
- Concrete work / cement pouring
- Carpentry
- Drywall installation
- Roofing
- Framing
- Electrical helper work
- Plumbing helper work
- Mechanical trades
- Warehouse and material handling
- Construction labor
- Low voltage installation experience
- Structured cabling experience
- Cat5/Cat6 installation
- Fiber optic installation
- Cable pulling and termination
- Punch-down experience
- Telecommunications or data center experience
Preferred ability to provide common hand tools, including:
- Screwdrivers
- Tape measure
- Pliers
- Hammer
- Flashlight
- Cable stripping/cutting tools
- Work gloves
OSHA 10 certification is preferred or must be obtainable before starting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
