TVI - Stuart, Florida

Make a meaningful impact working directly with students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a dynamic school environment. This full-time, on-site contract position offers the opportunity to serve a caseload of 12 direct students and provide consults across five schools in the district. You’ll play a critical role in helping students with visual impairments develop essential skills for academic and life success. The assignment runs from October through the beginning of June next year, requiring 35 hours per week and offers a robust and supportive setting for educators passionate about accessible learning.

Qualifications:

• Current Florida Department of Education Teacher for Visually Impaired certification required
• Experience or training in teaching Braille
• Ability to work with K-12 age groups
• Adept at managing a balanced caseload across multiple campuses
• Capacity to meet service requirements of 690 minutes per week
• District fingerprinting required (prior prints in AHCA Clearinghouse may be transferable)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments
• Conduct consults with general education staff and related services as needed
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Travel between up to five assigned schools to ensure all students’ needs are met
• Maintain accurate records and communication with staff and families
• Adapt instructional materials for accessibility
