Make a meaningful impact as a Developmental Adaptive Physical Education Teacher by supporting students with diverse needs in achieving their best through movement, activity, and tailored instruction. This contract opportunity takes place in a dynamic and supportive school setting spanning two middle schools. You'll guide students’ physical education experiences, adapting lesson plans and environments to promote participation and individual growth.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Minnesota DAPE (Developmental Adaptive Physical Education) teaching license
  • Demonstrated experience as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher preferred
  • Understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and ability to adapt instruction accordingly
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Professionalism, flexibility, and passion for fostering student development
  • Ability to provide resume verifying qualifications (required for consideration)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide adaptive physical education instruction to students as outlined in their IEPs
  • Assess student needs, document progress, and adjust instruction as needed
  • Collaborate closely with special education and general education teams
  • Develop engaging lesson plans to suit a diverse caseload
  • Communicate progress with staff and families in a timely, constructive manner
  • Foster a positive, inclusive class environment where all students are able to participate
  • Travel between Northdale Middle School and Roosevelt Middle School as needed
  • Attend meetings and professional development related to DAPE

This role runs from September 3, 2026 to approximately November 30, 2026, with a full-time schedule (Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours per week).
