Position Summary

The RN Clinical Perioperative Nurse plays a vital role as part of an interdisciplinary team, ensuring that patients, families, and significant others receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. This role operates within a clinical environment overseen by Nurse Managers and supported by our Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by our Professional Practice Model, 5-Star Nursing, and evidence-based practices. RN competencies are derived from these models and reinforced by our Core Competencies.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the nursing practices as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics established by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, you will advocate for the patient’s voice while adhering to system policies and supporting service excellence goals.

• Conduct the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
• Deliver relationship-based, patient-centered care that aligns with specific population characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health conditions) while respecting cultural diversity.
• Engage with patients and their significant others through appropriate communication methods, ensuring their goals are central to the care plan.
• Adhere to current clinical practice standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

• Coordinate and document safe, quality patient care that aligns with the professional care delivery model, utilizing diverse interdisciplinary communication methods.
• Exhibit teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that encourages the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
• Engage in performance improvement initiatives, supporting research and promoting safe, quality patient care.

Professional Development and Initiative

• Complete all initial and ongoing competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
• Act as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff, fostering a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.

Evidence-Based Practice and Research

• Encourage evidence-based practices and nursing research, participating in value analysis for patient care product evaluation.
• Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, ensuring adherence to legal and accreditation standards.
• Engage in data collection and pose relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice.

Resources and Support

• Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
• Contribute to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and healthcare team members.
• Support the efficient use of human and material resources.

Education and Qualifications

• Minimum education: Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Licenses and certifications required upon hire include:
• RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - Multi-state Compact.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or equivalent certifications.
• Minimum experience: At least 5 years of direct patient care nursing experience is required.
