Position Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role as part of a collaborative team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers, ensuring that patients, families, and significant others receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. This role operates within a clinical setting overseen by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by our Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by our Professional Practice Model, emphasizing evidence-based practices and research. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, as well as the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics established by the American Nurses Association. As a key member of the patient services team, you will advocate for the patient’s voice while adhering to system policies and striving for service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Exemplary Practice and Outcomes:
  • Utilize the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver clinical care based on evidence-based practices, employing analytical and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
  • Provide patient-centered care that respects population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health conditions) and adapts service delivery to acknowledge cultural diversity.
  • Engage with patients and their significant others through appropriate methods (e.g., bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds) to keep them informed and ensure their goals are central to the care plan.
  • Adhere to current clinical practice standards.
• Teamwork and Collaboration:
  • Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that aligns with the professional care delivery model, utilizing diverse communication methods and ensuring timely documentation.
  • Exhibit teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that encourages the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives, including research and collaboration with stakeholders to enhance patient care quality.
• Professional Development and Initiative:
  • Complete all required professional competency assessments and mandatory education, including population-specific training.
  • Act as a preceptor or mentor for fellow nurses and other staff to foster a qualified workforce and promote a healthy work environment.
• Evidence-Based Practice and Research:
  • Encourage evidence-based practices and nursing research, participating in value analysis for evaluating patient care products.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and clinical competencies, ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Engage in data collection and pose relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practices.
• Resources and Support:
  • Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
  • Contribute to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Support the efficient use of human and material resources.

Additional Duties

Education and Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT (Multi-state Compact)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or equivalent certification.
• Experience: Less than 1 year of direct patient care experience; completion of an accredited nursing program with required clinical hours.
