Position Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - Orthopedic Surgical for a part-time night shift role. The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role as a proactive member of a multidisciplinary team, which includes both licensed and unlicensed caregivers. This team is dedicated to providing personalized, high-quality, and safe patient care. The clinical environment is overseen by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by our Shared Governance Model. Our practice framework is guided by the Professional Practice Model and evidence-based research. RN competencies are aligned with these models and reflect our organizational values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the nursing practices defined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act. They must implement the Scope of Practice and the Code of Ethics established by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, it is essential to advocate for the patient’s voice while adhering to system policies and striving for service excellence.

Core Responsibilities
  • Exemplary Practice and Outcomes:
    • Utilizes the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver clinical care based on evidence-based practices, employing analytical and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
    • Delivers relationship-centered care that aligns with the specific characteristics of the patient population (age, gender, disease, etc.), adapting service delivery to acknowledge cultural diversity.
    • Engages with patients and their significant others appropriately, utilizing methods such as bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary rounds to keep them informed and focused on their care goals.
    • Adheres to current clinical practice standards.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration:
    • Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model through inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods.
    • Exhibits teamwork and collaboration by practicing fiscal responsibility and supporting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
    • Engages in performance improvement initiatives, collaborating with all stakeholders and supporting shared governance at all levels.
  • Professional Development and Initiative:
    • Completes all required initial and ongoing competency assessments and mandatory education.
    • Acts as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff, ensuring a qualified workforce and fostering a healthy work environment.
  • Evidence-Based Practice and Research:
    • Advocates for evidence-based practices and nursing research, participating in value analysis to evaluate patient care products.
    • Complies with all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
    • Participates in data collection and formulates relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice.
  • Resources and Support:
    • Plans proactively for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
    • Contributes to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes.
    • Supports the efficient use of human and material resources.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Compliance with all organizational policies, work standards, and the code of conduct is expected.

Education and Qualifications
  • Required Minimum Education:
    • Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Required Licenses and Certifications:
    • Registered Nurse (RN) - Single State or RN-COMPACT - Multi-state Compact.
    • BLS - Basic Life Support or equivalent certification.
  • Experience:
    • At least 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English; adept at utilizing technology to enhance clinical care.
    • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with excellent customer service abilities.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with composure and respect.
    • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to apply evidence-based practices and critical thinking.
