Special Education Teacher | Sheridan, Indiana

Your primary focus will be supporting resource-level students, fostering growth academically, socially, and emotionally. Adapt instruction and collaborate with general education staff to ensure each student receives the individualized attention they deserve.

Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education, or eligibility for certification
• Experience working with middle school-aged students is highly preferred
• Strong skills in IEP development, progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction
• Ability to communicate compassionately with students, families, and colleagues
• Familiarity with differentiated instruction and behavioral interventions
• Positive, flexible attitude with excellent time management skills

Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver engaging lessons tailored to student IEP goals
• Collaborate with general educators to support inclusive practices
• Develop, update, and manage IEPs, maintaining compliance with all legal and district requirements
• Track student progress and adjust instruction as needed
• Foster a safe, supportive classroom environment that encourages confidence and independence
• Communicate regularly with families to build strong, trusting relationships
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school activities
