Job Description
TeamHealth is seeking a highly experienced and motivated emergency medicine physician assistant (PA-C) to join our team, providing high-quality, patient-centered care across two emergency department locations in Blackwell and Perry, Oklahoma. This position is based in a rural emergency hospitals affiliated with Stillwater Medical Center and features solo PA coverage, requiring a high level of clinical autonomy and confidence in independent decision-making.
\n The PA will practice at the top of their scope, managing patients of all acuity levels in a busy emergency department setting, with offsite physician supervision available for consultation and support.
Key Responsibilities
- \n
- Perform comprehensive medical screening exams, histories, and physical assessments for patients of all ages \n
- Independently evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and emergent conditions across all levels of acuity \n
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests including labs, imaging, and EKGs \n
- Perform procedures within scope of practice (e.g., suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, airway management as credentialed) \n
- Initiate treatment plans, prescribe medications, and provide patient education and discharge instructions \n
- Stabilize and manage critically ill patients, including coordination of transfers when necessary \n
- Collaborate with offsite supervising physicians as needed for complex cases \n
- Ensure accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) \n
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards \n
- Assist with patient flow and triage prioritization as needed \n
Qualifications\n
- \n
- Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program \n
- Current certification by NCCPA (PA-C) \n
- Active Oklahoma PA license (or ability to obtain prior to start date) \n
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications \n
- Minimum of 4 years of emergency medicine experience required \n
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a solo coverage environment \n
- Strong clinical decision-making skills and comfort managing high-acuity patients \n
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities \n
Work Environment and Schedule\n

- Practice across two emergency department sites: Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Perry, Oklahoma \n
- Critical access hospital settings affiliated with Stillwater Medical Center \n
- Solo PA coverage with offsite physician supervision \n
- Rotating shifts (12s or 24s) including days, nights, weekends, and holidays \n
- Busy emergency departments with a broad range of patient acuity \n
