Make a significant impact on students' lives by providing vital support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a dynamic educational setting near Palm City, FL. This full-time, contract opportunity allows you to work directly with students who have visual impairments, delivering high-quality instruction and resources across multiple schools within the district.

Key Qualifications:

  • Holds valid Florida DOE Teacher for Visually Impaired certification
  • Thorough understanding of Braille and its instructional methods
  • Experience working with children and adolescents (age group: K-12 preferred)
  • Comfortable managing a caseload and adapting to varying school settings
  • Must complete district fingerprinting (previous prints from AHCA Clearinghouse may be utilized)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to approximately 12 students, delivering a total of 690 service minutes per week
  • Support an additional two students via consult, collaborating with educational teams to ensure accommodations and modifications are in place
  • Travel between several school locations as assigned (service covers 5 campuses)
  • Develop and adapt teaching materials, focusing on accessibility and independence for visually impaired students
  • Maintain accurate records, document progress, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive environment that encourages student growth and self-advocacy
