Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting 6th-grade learners in a dynamic educational environment near Arlington Heights, IL. This role is ideal for Special Education Teachers passionate about student growth, collaboration, and tailored instruction.

In this position, you’ll work closely with a small group of students, delivering individualized ELA instruction to a class of 12. Your expertise will also help support inclusion by co-teaching in two general education classrooms — one focused on ELA and the other on science. Additionally, you'll lead a WIN class, serving as a structured study hall for special education students, helping them strengthen skills, organize assignments, and achieve academic success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification in Special Education (Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement required)
  • Experience teaching at the middle school level, particularly in ELA and/or science
  • Expertise in differentiating instruction and managing IEP requirements
  • Collaborative mindset for team teaching in inclusive settings
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and supportive classroom culture

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging ELA instruction to a dedicated special education class
  • Co-teach with general education teachers in inclusive ELA and science classrooms
  • Design and implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in students' IEPs
  • Lead a WIN class, providing individualized academic support and encouragement
  • Monitor and track student progress, communicating regularly with colleagues and families
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the success of the multidisciplinary team
