Position OverviewThe RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role as an active participant in a multidisciplinary team of both licensed and unlicensed caregivers. This team is committed to delivering personalized, high-quality, and safe patient care to patients, their families, and significant others. Working within a clinical setting overseen by Nurse Managers and other leaders, the RN is supported by our Shared Governance Model. The competencies expected of RNs are aligned with these models and reflect our organizational values.
All RN Clinical Nurses are required to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the standards of nursing practice as defined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act. They are also expected to implement the Scope of Practice and adhere to the Code of Ethics established by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, RNs must advocate for the patient’s voice while adhering to system policies and procedures, all while striving for service excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct the Nursing Process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Employ analytical and critical thinking skills to ensure individualized care, coordinating effectively with partners to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Deliver relationship-based, patient-centered care that respects population-specific characteristics such as age, gender, and health conditions, while being mindful of cultural diversity.
- Facilitate bedside shift reports to keep patients and their significant others informed, ensuring that patient goals are central to the care plan.
- Oversee the delivery and documentation of safe, high-quality patient care that aligns with the professional care delivery model.
- Foster teamwork and collaboration, practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that encourages the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives, including research and its application, to enhance patient care quality, while actively participating in shared governance at all levels.
- Serve as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff, ensuring a qualified future workforce and promoting a healthy work environment.
- Encourage the use of evidence-based practices, nursing research, and performance improvement within nursing.
- Participate in value analysis as part of the decision-making process for evaluating patient care products.
- Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, such as TJC Patient Safety Goals.
- Engage in data collection and formulate relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice.
- Proactively plan for patient care across the continuum while providing direct patient care.
- Contribute to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other healthcare team members to achieve best practice outcomes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all organizational policies and the code of conduct.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Current RN license (Single State or Multi-state Compact).
- A minimum of 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience is required.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English, with basic computer skills and the ability to leverage technology in clinical care.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with excellent customer service abilities.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with composure and respect.
- Utilize evidence and analytical skills in nursing practice, demonstrating strong critical thinking abilities.
