Located in Erie, Pennsylvania, UPMC Hamot is excited to announce a new opening for a Gastroenterologist to join a well-established and expanding practice. Bayfront Digestive Disease, founded in 1984, is part of UPMC Hamot's Center for Digestive Health. This practice specializes in managing digestive disorders for both adults and pediatric patients (ages 12 and older) and is supported by five physicians, thirteen advanced practice providers, and a dedicated staff of 35. The center boasts the largest and most comprehensive team of digestive health specialists in the region, providing diagnosis, treatment, and surgical procedures for various digestive diseases. An in-house infusion suite is available, accommodating up to 10 patients.
Utilizing the latest endoscopic technology, UPMC Hamot aids in diagnosing conditions affecting the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. The new high-definition equipment offers enhanced imaging and contrast, making UPMC Hamot the only facility in the area to provide this advanced technology. The GI lab at UPMC Hamot is recognized as an ASGE Center of Excellence.

The expected distribution of work is approximately 80% inpatient/procedures and 20% office-based.
Call CoveragePhysicians share call responsibilities on a rotating basis, typically one week out of every five or six weeks. The call period lasts for seven days, from Monday 8:00 AM to the following Monday 8:00 AM, with coverage required for two nights during that week.
Qualifications- MD/DO from an accredited medical institution
- American Board Eligible, American Board Certified, or Canadian Board Certified in Gastroenterology
- A broad skill set in gastroenterology with a willingness to learn and adopt new techniques and procedures
- ERCP experience is preferred but not mandatory; mentorship will be provided
- Ability to secure an unrestricted Pennsylvania Medical License and obtain necessary credentials
- DEA certification
- A strong commitment to patient-centered care and excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as we prioritize high-quality, compassionate care.
