Long Term Care Mail Order Staff Pharmacist - Arden, NC
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity is ideal for a licensed pharmacist with experience in long-term care or mail order pharmacy operations. The position offers a Monday through Friday schedule consisting of four 10-hour shifts, either from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, providing a consistent daytime work routine over a 13-week contract-to-hire assignment.

Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- Four 10-hour shifts (9:00 AM–7:00 PM or 10:00 AM–8:00 PM)
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications
- Monitor patient medication compliance and detect patterns of over-usage
- Ensure medication supply adheres to legal regulations
- Verify suitability of prescribed medications for each patient
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient and pharmacy records
- Counsel patients on medication usage, potential reactions, and answer related inquiries
- Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and interactions
- Offer patient services such as smoking cessation assistance, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
- Compound medications for internal and external use, and prepare sterile solutions following proper protocols
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks
- Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with healthcare practitioners
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns
Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina pharmacy license
- Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience
- Long-term care and mail order pharmacy experience highly desirable
- Sterile compounding experience a plus
